Trail Boss is a comprehensive mapping tool, navigator, and trip recorder designed for the outdoors enthusiast.

Trail Boss is well-suited for a variety of activities, including hiking, mountain biking, backcountry skiing/boarding, trail running, city walking/cycling/running (including urban trails), hunting, snowmobiling/ATV/OHV riding, horseback riding, geocaching, and any other activity where you require assistance in planning or following a route or finding your way back home. In addition, it is a great tool for referencing routes you've taken in the past or routes shared by friends. It also enables you to keep track of detailed statistics such as distance, time, elevation gain, slope angles, pace, and more.

The maps provided by Trail Boss cover a vast range of hiking, biking, ATV, and ski trails worldwide. You can choose from a variety of map styles, including streets, satellite images, and topographic maps. Additionally, you can easily add maps from various map servers across the globe and access numerous country-specific government maps. For offline use, you have the option to download maps.

The app allows you to share your trips with friends or on web services like Strava. You can also import trips from friends or other sources in formats such as Google Earth, GPX, PDF, and JPG/PNG. Pre-planning routes is simple; you can follow roads/trails or create your own custom route. While on the trail, Trail Boss provides guidance using the built-in road and trail networks found in our maps, recorded tracks from previous trips, routes created with Trail Boss's measure tool, as well as routes and trail maps obtained from other Trail Boss users, web sources, emails, or other apps on your phone.

You can enhance your maps by adding placemarks to mark points of interest. Additionally, the app supports the inclusion of pictures and videos to provide a visual representation of your journey.

Another great feature is the ability to join a location sharing group and share your real-time location with other members.

What sets Trail Boss apart is its independence from any specific website or account requirement. There is no need to create an account, give away personal information, or deal with spam emails. Simply open Trail Boss and start using it.

The basic version of Trail Boss offers extensive functionality that is sufficient for many users. However, subscribing to the premium version unlocks additional impressive features. We highly recommend considering the purchase of a subscription, as it is priced very reasonably.

A one-year subscription for Trail Boss is available for just USD $4.99. With a subscription, you gain access to Advanced Settings and many other exclusive features. Please note the following details regarding subscriptions: payment will be charged to your iTunes Account upon confirmation of purchase; subscriptions automatically renew unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; renewal charges will be applied within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, with the cost clearly identified; users can manage subscriptions and disable auto-renewal through their Account Settings after purchase; any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited upon the purchase of a subscription.

Note: GPS will continue to be used by Trail Boss while recording a trip, even if your phone is shut off. Continuous use of GPS running in the background may significantly reduce battery life.
